As far back as heart and mind will go, back to my early childhood, art has always been my passion; my friend; my constant companion...
In college at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and with a background in Graphic Arts, my interests eventually turned to the dimensional arts and a love of sculpting evolved. After being introduced to the world of polymers in 1988, I knew I had found the most fascinating medium!
I continued to practice and hone my skills, and in 1994 my work was licensed into reproduction with the introduction of my first gift lines; among the most popular were the "Happy Habits" , the funny little nuns. They were highly sought by collectors and were sold nationwide for several years. I had other lines including "Lil Bits", "Heaven Sent" and "Heavenly Angels".
Now my focus is to create one of a kind figurative sculptures and market them directly to buyers via the web! The collectors and patrons make this such a rewarding experience. My heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one...
In addition to creating one-of-a-kind work, during the past 30+ years I have also traveled and taught seminars in polymer clay sculpting to young and "young at heart" around the USA.
My artwork has been featured on television, in newspaper articles, magazines and ads for polymer clay products. Always willing to share technique, I have also written several instructional articles as useful teaching aids for companies and publications and conducted product testing and development for major companies. In 2012 I saw there was a need for more specific instruction through online teaching; so, I began writing classes, distributed in PDF format, to interested artists worldwide. Talk about a fantastic experience! To see people from around the globe, create my designs with their own interpretation... What an honor and privilege, and very humbling and rewarding endeavor for me.
As a part of my online presence and the instruction I was offering, I was asked to assume the duties as President of the International Art Doll Registry and through that online organization, continued to encourage and teach artists interested in learning more and promoting their art. I now hold the position of President Emeritus of International Art Doll Registry and am honored to do so.
While we continue to see our beloved sculpting world evolve, we too as artists must adapt and grow, change and blossom. I hope my guidance helps new and seasoned artists alike gain the confidence they need to make this as challenging and rewarding an experience for them as it has been for me.
As I look back, I will be forever grateful for the wonderful opportunities that have graced my life. I am in awe...it's been simply AMAZING. So, thank you.
